As it turned out, one of the other main places I had wanted to go in the area was just a short ferry ride away! And so we boarded the ferry and sailed on to Ko Phi Phi (pr. Koh Pee Pee). Despite the awkward name, we knew it wouldn’t be worse then Phuket. The ferry ride was quite nice. Aside from the boat seeming only marginally seaworthy, it was very enjoyable. There was no AC in the main cabin (big surprise), so most of the people were on the roof catching some sun. There were quite a fine array of people on the boat, eagerly awaiting for this island to get closer. And on this beautiful day in the Andaman Sea, it did. The closer it got, the more people started noticing and taking pictures and standing up to look. The majestic crags towered out of the sea, covered with jungle. The water turned a fascinating sea-greenish color as it slowly weathered away at the base of the sheer cliffs. As we rounded the point, the beach and the harbor welcomed us with longtails and dive boats. Off to the left, some people were diving off the cliffs. To the right, the water turned the color of postcard islands. Indeed, the entire island was a living postcard. As we disembarked, we were slapped with an arrival fee of 20 baht to …
