Entry from: Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand Entry Title: “Sweaty Hikes” Entry: “Sleeping in extreme heat and humidity isn’t that bad once you get used to it. A fan helps, but once you fall asleep, your body temperature drops enough to keep you asleep anyways. The past two nights I’ve woken up at dawn because I felt cold when the fan swept past me. Falling asleep can be tricky. I haven’t figure that part out yet, except to walk a lot during the day. I think the best part about Phi Phi Don Island is that all the shops and restaurants serve a drink made out of real lemons. It’s really nice after having to drink orange juice the whole way through Europe. Tonight I even splurged another 75 cents for a second lemonade. It might not seem like a lot, but thats about 10 percent of my daily spendings on this island. There’s quite a few stands around town that sell pirated DVDs for $2. Most of the DVDs are still playing in the US theaters but of course that doesn’t stop anyone in Asia. Many of the ex-pat restaurants play these movies throughout the night at their bars. Some of the movies include “Charlie and the Chocolate Factor” and “40 year old Virgin”. I set out this morning about 8:30. It’s really a lot quieter when most of the shops are closed.
